Highlander selected for OEM
integration to mainstream credit risk analysis system used worldwide.
Monterey, July 7, 2000:
Peak Software and KMV today announced that
they have successfully integrated Peak's Highlander OLAP product with KMV's
flagship Portfolio Manager risk analysis system, which is used
worldwide by financial institutions to evaluate various types of debt
securities, credit derivatives and loans.
The integrated product, KMV Portfolio Manager, has recently been
shipped to clients worldwide, the companies said. The Highlander displays
Portfolio Manager results from virtually any viewpoint as a
multidimensional database. KMV, LLC, a leader in credit risk measurement
and management for multinational financial institutions, selected Highlander
after an extensive evaluation of OLAP products. Peter Crosbie, KMV partner,
said, "Highlander is the most compact OLAP system we found." Dr.
Rick Butterworth, Peak Software president, said, "This agreement puts us
on desktops worldwide."
OLAP products use a dimensional data model that Highlander incorporates
natively. Highlander integration to desktop applications is through the
Microsoft® Windows operating system and ActiveX technology, giving OEM
clients immediate access to an OLAP engine and user interface.
KMV, LLC was formed in 1989 with credit risk as its single focus. Since
then, the company's technology has become widely used to assess the risk and
return characteristics of portfolios of corporate bonds, commercial and
industrial loans and credit derivatives. More than 66 percent of the
world's largest banks rely upon KMV technology in their credit risk
management strategies, as do a growing number of insurance companies,
institutional money managers and other institutional managers of corporate
credit risk.
Peak Software develops and markets desktop OLAP products for stand-alone or
OEM use. The company's "structured solution" approach provides
quick and efficient ways to view large volumes of summarized information in
a subject matter context quickly understood by end users. For more
